Smokey is a great dog.  He was a "wild child" when he first arrived in our care, we believe simply starved for love, affection and room to run and play.  Once he settled down a bit, Smokey became a virtual ambassador of good behavior.  He is clever and very treat driven.  He loves to show off his tricks which include sit, shake, lay down and roll over.

Smokey is great with kids and other dogs.  I believe he would be great with cats but haven't tested him around cats to make sure. 

We do not know the state of his housetraining, but he should train easily if not already.

Smokey easily jumps a four foot fence, so would need a taller fence and would love a fenced in yard or home in the country to run around.

We have Smokey neutered, hw tested (negative), current on rabies, Distemper/parvo and Bordatella as well as flea/dewormer/hw preventive and microchipped. 

We know Smokey is only about a year old and that labradoodle puppies with no more vetting than first shots and dewormer sell for $900 and up, so we have set Smokey's adoption fee at $400 with a completed/approved adoption application which can be found on our website:  www.claycountyshelter.com

The typical adoption fee for dogs is $150.  It includes vaccination, deworming , spay/neuter, heartworm testing on dogs of age and microchipping, which is now mandatory by state law.  Some dogs we discount to as little as $50 due to sponsorship.  Some dogs we ask a higher adoption fee, which helps us recoup expenses on heartworm treatment on other dogs.

All cats are spayed/neutered/vaccinated/flea treated/dewormed and microchipped prior to adoption.  Cat adoption fees range from $60-$100.  We spay/neuter/microchip/vaccinate and deworm all kittens and cats, prior to adoption.  Our shyer/less adoptable cats are classed as "barn cats" and are free with a completed/approved barn cat application, which can be found on our website.
